Bill Kircher joins MB Aerospace as new Chief Operating Officer11 Jul 2016
International aerospace engineering group, MB Aerospace, has appointed respected industry figure Bill Kircher as its new Chief Operating Officer.
Bill joins MB Aerospace with more than 25 years’ industry experience, of which 16 were spent at United Technologies Corporation (UTC) where he held a number of executive positions, mostly within its Pratt & Whitney division. During this period, he successfully led a number of high-growth, large-scale (>$1bn revenue) multi-site manufacturing business units.
Highlighting his leadership qualities, Bill’s executive experience includes heading-up Pratt & Whitney’s turbine airfoil business as well as its engine overhaul and repair operations in Singapore and Taiwan. Bill finished his time with United Technologies as President of UTC Aerospace’s operations in Singapore which included responsibility for over 3,600 employees across all UTC Aerospace segments (including Pratt & Whitney, PW Canada and United Technologies Aerospace Systems).
As well as significant OEM credentials, Bill joins MB Aerospace with experience in private equity-sponsored aerospace businesses, having successfully led the operational turn-around and divestment process for VAS Aero Services as Chief Executive Officer during 2015.
At MB Aerospace, Bill will have full functional and operational responsibility for the group’s global operations in North America, Poland and in the UK. He will support the business to execute growth plans by leading and developing a company-wide operating system including new capital investments and process improvements.
As well as ensuring each business unit possesses the toolkit, team and ambition to achieve world-class performance, he will also help integrate future acquisitions into the global MB Aerospace operating system. With sustained growth a long-term business priority, Craig Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer of MB Aerospace, is thrilled to have secured the services of such an accomplished industry executive. He said: “We are delighted Bill has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer at this critical stage in our evolution following the recent significant investment commitment from Blackstone (NYSE: BX).
“Our growth plan is to build MB Aerospace into a larger-scale, global Tier 1 provider of Aero-Engine and IGT components and services and we look forward to Bill being a critical part of the journey. He will help execute our plans by establishing a robust global operating system with processes to give us the leverage of a larger group whilst retaining the accountability and agility within our individual business units.
“Bill is an accomplished leader and his industry and operational process experience from Pratt & Whitney, and UTC, will be extremely valuable as we grow organically and through acquisition to create a global platform with flawless performance.
“Alongside the recent appointment of ex-GE Vice Chairman, Dan Heintzelman, as MB Aerospace’s non-executive Chairman we feel positive about the strength of team we are building as we successfully expand and invest further in the business.” Commenting on his new role,
Bill Kircher added: “Given the recent trajectory and ambitious plans for further growth this is a hugely exciting time to be joining the team at MB Aerospace.
“I’m looking forward to making an immediate contribution to the group which has such great opportunities. I’ll be doing my utmost to contribute the robust processes and engineering disciplines needed to drive operational excellence for our customers.”
Bill Kircher starts with MB Aerospace on August 22nd.
